Each Friday there is a post at His Kingdom Come with a devotion on one week and a creative prompt on the other week. Friday 1/15 was the devotion written by Tonya Andrews about John 15:16
"You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that remains, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name he will give you."
I understand intellectually that I am chosen by God, but sometimes my heart doesn't hear the message, and my emotions don't feel chosen. I also read Ephesians 2:10 "10 For we are his workmanship, having been created in Christ Jesus for good works that God prepared beforehand so we may do them." Now because this verse is more action oriented, I totally get this one! I know that God created Shonna and I for His good works- His Kingdom Come! He has give this ministry to Shonna and I and we are blessed. He continually brings people He wants us to minister to and people to minister to others.
I looked up the definition of chosen and it forwarded me to election: " the gracious free act of God by which He calls those who become part of His Kingdom and special beneficiaries of His love and blessings. Those who are slaves to sin and its power (Rom 6:6) neither understand nor seek after God in and of themselves. Outside of Christ, men are spiritually dead rebels who neither desire to submit to the Lord Jesus Christ nor ARE ABLE TO." Nelsons Illustrated Dictionary of the Bible. (great resource).
Technique: I just love Erin Leighs faithart. I was so happy last week when she created a short video showing her techniques! Finally I could try her style. I encourage people to watch YouTube videos and attempt other's styles when you are in a rut. It is so helpful to try to do my version of someone else's style and increases my range of faithart! So for this weeks devotion I created my page, in Erin's style. Thanks Erin, I enjoyed "playing".
I hurt my back on Friday and was on the couch most of the weekend. So I continued in playing and improving my lettering style. Here are a few more pages I created this weekend.
I love to make gelli prints and when I make them a create a huge stack and keep them available for students to use. I pulled some out of my gelli box and practiced my lettering on the backgrounds, great because i didn't focus on the colors, just on my lettering.
This gelli I used to create the quotes from a message from my pastor about dreams. Wanted to remember those words and keep dreaming in 2016! I printed the message and stapled it to the back of this page and inserted into my HKC planner/journal.
I am loving my planner/journal this year. In the past my journals were bound, so unless I did a tip-in I didn't feel free to just create faithart of any size. This year, with the ARC system, I can just add pages, tags etc to my hearts content. I also bought some plastic folder dividers at Staples and Office Depot and punched them ( they were 3 hole punched) with the ARC punch and the work perfectly!!! More cost effective than the ARC folder dividers. I own the large ARC punch, so it is able to punch through the plastic. Would love to hear how you are doing with TMD and your planner/journal or faithart journal this year!
