What a great study we received in July from Bernice Hopper and Mary Brack, foundation team members, about Honour at His Kingdom Come. In America we spell honor without the u, but in England they spell honour with the u, so I used that spelling to set apart my study.
A culture of honour in the kingdom of God is different than the worlds view of honour. In America we honour celebrities, singers and lots of people who havent' really done anything to honour the King of Kings. God is the one we should honour in our everyday, walk around, waking, sleeping, working life. God is worthy of my honour because he is my Creator, because He loved me so much that he saved me by the cross.
"You are worthy, our Lord and God to receive glory and honour and power, for you created all thns and by your will they were created and have their being." Revelation 4:11
4 I always thank my God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus.5 For in him you have been enriched in every way—with all kinds of speech and with all knowledge— 6 God thus confirming our testimony about Christ among you. 7 Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed. 8 He will also keep you firm to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. 1 Corinthians 1:4-9 (NIV)
Cultivating honour is a lifestyle, about setting boundaries, using our beliefs and values to set the boundaries of our lifestyle. I want my lifestyle to point others to Jesus- I want my relationships to be built around intimacy, trust, honesty, enjoyment and peace. Living a life of thanksgiving promotes a culture of honour. Thank you God for my blessed life!
July's technique revolved around doodling over a prepared page (prepared with stencils and spray inks randomly). If you are going to travel and want to keep your devotion time with God, prepare your page or pages in advance, and take just some pens and practice doodling! You will be able to spend time with God while on vacation praying in color, doodling and focusing on his word and how that manifests in your life.
In July I spent a lot of time in prayer and meditation with God. Sure needed that grounding. Satan was really attacking my self-esteem big time and pushing me down that rabbit hole of I don't fit in, I am not accepted for me, etc. So this time I prayed in Jesus name for Satan to leave me and stop the lies! I did this repeatedly while I was creating my faithart and studying the honour verses and devotions.
12 For just as the body is one and yet has many members, and all the members of the body—though many—are one body, so too is Christ. 13 For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body. Whether Jews or Greeks or slaves or free, we were all made to drink of the one Spirit. 1 Cor 12:12-13.
So me, Diane, is part of the body of Christ and He made me perfect, just the way I am, who am I to doubt him, to curse myself???? Every part of the body is needed to make it work, so that was confirmation to me to focus on the body as a whole, not on me personally. I do fit into the body of Christ, I am a member of His Kingdom Come, I am a faithartist, I am a mother, Grandmother, church member and a sister in Christ.
Honouring myself is
- what I think about myself
- how I talk about myself
- Owning the gifts God has given me
- knowing my true worth
"Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honour God with your bodies." 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
Adore HIM Creations and His Kingdom Come are my passion and where I use my gifts given to me by God to bring Him Honour and Glory! It has been how I spend all my free time creating faithart, reading and studying His word, sharing what I have learned with others and keeping my focus on Him and His word. I am a blessed woman.
Take Me Deeper™ is a free weekly journey at His Kingdom Come. Take Me Deeper™ is a weekly devotional and verse that will prompt us to spending time in His word. It is about each of us encouraging, sharing and studying the word.
Each week you get the opportunity to translate bible study into art- mixed media, a journal, a photograph, or a digital page, poem, music. Every Friday HKC will post a verse, devotional, worship video and examples of how we interpreted the bible study in our art. We pray that these 52 weeks will change how you approach, engage and apply God’s word in your life and art. At the end of the year regardless of how many weeks your participated, you will have created a legacy of the faith walk. This legacy will show you how God has moved in your life!
