Rewind: February "Love"
When people think of February they mostly think of St. Valentine’s Day. There are various facts and legends described in this article. The one thing we can take from St. Valentine’s Day is that it is devoted to Love. And that’s our theme for this week: Love. We’ll look at God’s love for us and our love for him using Matthew 22:37 as a starting point: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
In February Take me deeper looked at 4 components of Love- God’s Love, Loving God, Loving our Neighbours and Loving Yourself.
I know that I experience God's love, and that I love God. I believe that I am loving to others (neighbors) and the last part is where I still have some non-belief. I do not love myself all the time- I am the first to beat myself up, heap burning coals upon my head and go to a dark place of giving up. I have gotten better this year, and continue to work on trusting Him and trusting that He loves me no matter what and so who am I to not love myself in the way He loves me! I hope you you can feel His love when you are part of our His Kingdom Come community. Join us in the going deeper journey- never too late to start!
Technique: I used gesso as my base, then used stencils and distress inks to add background designs. I chose circles and arrows as my design that complements the word love. Love should be a circle and it should point me to Love over and over. I used Mary Bracks' technique of cutting out my letters and then used graphic pencils to add depth and shadows. Simple but effective.
