"4 Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I say, rejoice! 5 Let everyone see your gentleness. The Lord is near! 6 Do not be anxious about anything. Instead, in every situation, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, tell your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of respect, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if something is excellent or praiseworthy, think about these things. 9 And what you learned and received and heard and saw in me, do these things. And the God of peace will be with you." Philippians 4:4-9
Paul's advice to the Philippians is so true for me!
I am a problem solver by nature and so when things are stressful, go wrong, or I see where a situation is headed I immediately go into problem solving mode. That means my brain goes over and over all the different options, what the outcomes could be, and I analyze all the choices and make my choice based on my own logical thinking.
I am a survivor of trauma as a child, so this is my coping mechanism. However, God who is my heavenly Father, has been working on me to stop, and give the situation to Him- to be still and let Him have the issue.
When I do that I am calm and don’t have to manage it all- there is a peace that he gives me and a knowing of the way to go, or what to do. When I can rely on Him, I have less anxiety, more peace and my life is easy.
Why, oh why, do I make it so complicated and feel like I must always depend on myself only!!! Philippians 4:8 is a verse I meditate on frequently, it keeps me focused in a God-centered direction, instead of a me-centered place.
I praise the Lord for not letting go of me, for showing me His way and to focus on Him, not the problem or issue.
Those words mean so much to me. Pure- only God, Jesus and His ways are pure (refocus Diane), commendable- only those approved by HIM (refocus Diane), only those ways of God are excellent (refocus Diane) and the only things that are praiseworthy is HIM and His word (refocus Diane). To accomplish this process I had to memorize this verse so that it would be on my tongue when I start my old habits of analyzing. When I practice that new habit, there is peace, the peace that is indescribable.
Do you know the peace that is indescribable?
Keeping my August technique theme of using NeoColor crayons, I decided to create a technique video for you this week! I am loving Neocolors~ and exploring new ways to use them with my stencils. Last week, I used gesso with the technique that I show in the video today. The flowers from last week and this week were down using stencils and colored the spaces instead of the stencil and then used a watercolor brush to smooth the color out. It ends up looking like I watercolored the flowers!
I typed my testimony and printed on the tag ( both sides) that I made in the video. The gesso gives the page more tooth and accepts the crayons better. Enjoy the techniques and post your pictures at Take Me Deeper on FaceBook or at the His Kingdom Come community under Take Me Deeper project.
