I was so reminded reading the devotions this week about "abiding". Abide was my word of the year a few years ago, and I was able to really change my daily routine and abide with Him during that time. Like all of us, life changes how we live each day and before you know it the abiding time is not scheduled and not done.
Mary (author of HKC devotions) spoke about how "running on empty is a prescription for burn-out." Boy do I know that, in fact I operate at such a high speed and spend so much time working that when I really look at my life I am running on "emotional and spiritual empty" most of the time! My Sanctuary series I choose one technique- collage, and wow doesn't it support this weeks devotions! I collaged lots of pieces of underpaper this week, and it just was a witness to all that I have going on that clutters up my life!
To really drive home the analogy , I added even more clutter with stamps, , stencils and molding paste and writing. I also added a small tip in on the side with the poem from the devotion.
What does abiding with Him look like in your life? What does your sanctuary look like, maybe it is just the time, or is it a place for you?
