This weekend, my 5Deep ladies are here at my studio and they are preparing their advent journals and having a mini retreat. We are having a great creative time with each other and with God! I realized they are so creative and each one is preparing a journal that is unique to each of them and who they are. Three of my 5 Deep group- Shameka, Justine and Timi ( L to R).
So here are some more ideas for how to make a journal without spending a lot of money!
USE MANILLA FILE FOLDERS
Try using 8 manilla file folders and decorate them- paint them, put scrapbook paper on top, use an old book and glue the pages on. Keep the tabs and you can add the title of the day ( it will be a PDF for you to print next week). I will bet you are like most women, we don't through things away. We all gathered all of our old Christmas cards, and they used them on some pages- great opportunity to recycle! Add envelopes- the craft stores sell pretty envelopes, that can be a page. Add a tag as a page, or to a page. Use flat ornamets as titles, or decorations.
Keep to a simple formula and repeat it- choose a color scheme, decide if you will use the titles, tickets or the number circles. Will you add the daily bible verses? I have attached the FREE pdf files that we have created for you to use. Some more FREE pdf's will be coming over the next few weeks. Pause, ponder and prepare you heart and your journal for your time with HIM in December. View this photo Download Numbers, titles, tickets 2014 v2 Download Title and bible verses 2014
Look at these beautiful personal journals! Remember, your journal is yours- doesn't have to look like anyone elses, don't compare your creativity to anyone else. God gave you your creativity, exercise it and it will get better! Remember these are the base pages you are preparing, so you don't have to completely finish any page, you are just setting up your book.
Shameka's book theme: vintage mixed media with a touch of feminity. Love her color scheme. Like a princess, which she is!
Justines: Christmas symbols, lots of colors, lots of joy!
